About this encyclopedia
This English encyclopedia follows the topics and sequence of al-Sabeel's series about jinn. It is written from within Islam, with care for the distinction between revelation, scholarly interpretation, research and personal testimony.
A work in progress
The current reading preview contains fifteen article drafts. Their reference checks and editorial review are unfinished. A checked citation does not mean that every claim in its source has been established.
The wider project covers 23 selected videos. Their Arabic captions provide the starting material for English articles, organized by the videos' topics and sections. Work continues on the remaining articles and their references.
How to read the references
Numbered citations lead to references at the bottom of each article. Return links lead back to the passage that cites them. Notes identify the source type and explain any limits on verification.
The Qur'an, a hadith, a scholar's opinion, a scientific study and a person's account are different kinds of evidence. A recording can establish what someone said without establishing the cause of their experience. Where a reference remains unresolved, its note says so.
The source series
The articles are adapted from al-Sabeel, following the requested sequence from the opening episode through the final episode in this selection. Permission to translate and adapt the channel's material has been confirmed for this project.
This encyclopedia is an independent project. It does not claim affiliation with or endorsement by al-Sabeel. Independent research is used to check the video's references and claims, with added context identified as such.
